There are two main requirements to qualify to write the ABORM exam:

You must be licensed for a minimum of two years prior to the actual exam date. This means that you can register before your two-year time frame as long as you have been licensed for at least two years on or by the exam date.
You must have completed 45 hours of ABORM-Approved CEUs (View list of ABORM-Approved CEU courses.
The courses you take will depend on your knowledge and experience in treating reproductive medicine with knowledge of both western and eastern
The CEU courses must have been taken within a two year period of taking the exam.

All qualifying courses must be from our ABORM-Approved CEU courses.

There are no set courses to prepare for the exam as each practitioner has a different background, training and knowledge in the competencies listed.  As the certification exam tests only a minimum level of knowledge in reproductive medicine in those competency areas, you can choose from any of the approved courses based on your current level of knowledge.   For those that have a limited understanding of reproductive medicine, we typically suggest a western reproductive medicine course, a TCM reproductive medicine course, a male infertility course and an IVF course.

All of these CEU’s can be completed online and how quickly you work through them depends on your own schedule and level of knowledge.  A list of ABORM-Approved CEU courses can be found here.

Yes.  Once you register for the exam, a study guide will be provided which outlines focus areas, content overview and sample exam questions.  The guide is very comprehensive and if you follow the outline you will be very well prepared.  All of the courses can be completed online and the study is self-directed.

All of our approved courses are on the website however the basic ones that are very comprehensive are Jane littleton’s full course, Dr. Magarelli’s western reproduction full course and a male fertility course of your choosing from our list.  Hope this helps.

The exam is currently only offered in-person, one time per year. Previous exam locations have been in Austin, Texas, Orlando, Florida, Chicago, Illinois and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in conjunction with the Integrative Fertility Symposium.

To maintain an active membership, you are required to obtain 10 CEU’s annually in reproductive medicine from our ABORM-Approved CEU courses and pay an annual fee of $150.

While our certification is not for everyone, it is for those who wish to be leaders in the field and offer patients the highest level of fertility care combining the knowledge of both western and eastern reproductive medicine.

We do not coordinate any official study groups to prepare for the exam however you are welcome to do so.  You will be issued a study guide once you register for and are approved to sit for the exam which will outline key focus areas and sample exam questions.

We only allow ABORM approved coursework as qualifying CEU’s and do not currently accept doctoral coursework as these schools are not participating CEU providers.  We are in discussions with several doctoral programs and hope to have them as approved providers in the near future.
